Fishing for Solutions

Client: Marine Stewardship Council

This powerful documentary explores the stark reality of the impact of climate change on the fishing industry, and the previously under-recognized role of sustainable seafood in climate policy. With first-hand accounts of marine heatwaves, shifting fish stocks and the impact of climate change on fishers across the globe, the film contains a powerful rallying call to policy makers to tackle the causes of climate change, and agree adaptive, resilient solutions in the face of profound climate driven shifts in ocean ecosystems.

As co-producer on this film we commissioned interview contributions from Australia, Canada, China and Mexico as well as filming in the UK in order to gather first-hand accounts of marine heatwaves, shifting fish stocks and the impact of climate change on fishers across the globe. Edited with a short turnaround to be in ready in time for COP26, the film contains a powerful rallying call to policy makers to tackle the causes of climate change, and agree adaptive, resilient solutions in the face of profound climate driven shifts in ocean ecosystems.

Orībuoiru

A long-running collaborative project, this self-funded documentary was started in 2019 but production was paused due to Covid restrictions on international travel.
Exploring the unique and intriguing world of olive oil production, consumption and judging, this story has taken me to Italy, Spain, Greece and ultimately Japan to discover their love and uses for this traditionally Mediterranean product.
This is my most ambitious project to date, spanning multiple countries, hours of interviews in various languages and is currently in the post-production stage.

The Decision

Client: Marine Stewardship Council

This documentary chronicles Kepa Echevarria’s remarkable journey towards achieving certification as a sustainable fishery, a feat many deemed unattainable. ‘The Decision’ powerfully illustrates that in an era where global fish stocks are increasingly threatened by overfishing, the choice to disregard sustainability is one that our planet simply cannot afford. Commissioned by the Marine Stewardship Council, this film sheds light on the myriad challenges fisheries encounter on their path to sustainability.

I had the privilege of co-producing and editing this documentary, filmed in the stunning Seychelles, with additional interviews conducted in the UK. Our approach included captivating animation, insightful narration, and an original score. This film proudly received a nomination for the Smiley Charity Film Award in 2024.

We The People

Filmed at the first Glastonbury back after Covid lockdowns, this piece is a departure from the pace of typical festival highlights instead capturing the sense of community that festivals provide. We focused on portraying the raw emotion in the feeling of emerging from isolation and collective trauma to celebrate life and music together again.

Company Cars in Action

Client: BMW

At the Company Cars in Action event at Millbrook Proving Ground, I led a talented team of photographers, videographers, editor, and sound recordist. We showcased BMW’s latest electric vehicles, capturing the experience from every angle. To elevate our coverage, we commissioned an original soundtrack and custom sound design, resulting in a polished final edit that truly embodied the event’s energy.

Role

Director/Producer

BMW & Green Fleet EV Rally

Client: BMW

In another ambitious collaboration with BMW, I had the privilege of directing and producing a compelling short film that chronicles BMW’s pivotal role in the 2024 Green Fleet EV Rally. I orchestrated and remotely managed a skilled team of videographers, photographers, and drone operators to capture the essence of the rally over a thrilling day in the north of England. Following this, I then personally directed a second day of filming and photography, and provided additional drone coverage on a second day in the south of England. During post-production, I oversaw a team that produced a dynamic edit that seamlessly integrated an original soundtrack, intricate sound design, and captivating animation, all working together to craft a visually striking narrative.

Tribal Gathering, Panama

Once a year 60 tribes from 30 countries come together to share their knowledge with each other, artists, teachers and attendees from all over the world. Tribal Gathering is so much more than a music festival. 18 days on a Caribbean beach, around 200 workshops and presentations, hundreds of musicians from around the world, a learning journey from the ancient to the modern and one of the worlds most important indigenous cultural celebrations.

Trashed

Having a good time doesn’t mean we can’t take care of our planet at the same time.

This is a topic very close to my heart as every year I am horrified by the waste left behind by festival-goers. In 2017 Shangri-la at Glastonbury’s theme and focus was on our environmental impact as individuals in the wider world but also by festival and festival-goeers, especially in the aftermath.

I co-directed and produced this short to highlight this message and in recent years other festivals seem to have taken this on board as key tenet of their values. However, there is still so much room for improvement in the attitudes of large corporate festivals and new generations of festival attendees.

Covering Traumatic Breaking News

Client: Headlines Network

I have produced a series of films that deliver essential resources and insights on mental health specifically tailored for journalists. This includes conducting in-person interviews, such as the one with broadcaster Dr Sian Williams, alongside remote discussions with various experts in the field.

Throughout the post-production phase, I collaborated closely with the client to ensure the accuracy of the information presented, while also partnering with an animator to visually articulate these insights and effectively direct viewers to additional resources.

Dagny Vs Bart: Cook-Off

Client: Marine Stewardship Council

This short cooking piece was commissioned during the Covid lockdown restrictions across Europe. Our team collaborated closely with the client to realise their creative vision, conceptualising an engaging cook-off between two chefs in separate kitchens to promote the use of sustainable fish at home. The pre-production phase involved meticulous scriptwriting, storyboarding, and briefing camera teams in Belgium and the Netherlands, enabling them to be remotely directed to bring this vision to fruition.

In post-production, I crafted a dynamic split-screen cooking video using the footage received, ensuring a captivating viewing experience.

Festive Marketing Campaign

Client: Shakespeare’s Globe
I had the privilege of directing and editing this advertisement for Shakespeare’s Globe to highlight the venue as an enchanting winter destination. Collaborating closely with the client, along with models and volunteers, the objective was to produce a timeless piece that encapsulates the magic and wonder inherent in experiencing the Globe theatre.

Summer 2025 Announcements

Client: Shakespeare’s Globe

Based on my experience in capturing the atmosphere of festival audiences, I was commissioned by Shakespeare’s Globe to film audience reactions to plays during the summer of 2024, aiming to authentically represent the vibrant, festival-like atmosphere of such performances. This footage was subsequently edited by the in-house team for inclusion in their Summer 2025 Announcement Trailer.

Role

Videographer

Everybody’s Talking

Client: Dutty Moonshine Big Band

This engaging and innovative music video drew inspiration from a variety of mixed media processes. Filmed in a single day, I co-directed a production that featured visual techniques such as duplications of our lead singer, match cuts, and whip pans. The editing process was intricately tied to capturing all of these elements on set. In post-production, we printed sets of individual frames, hand-drew animations, doodles, and scratches, reinserting them into the video while seamlessly integrating other motion graphics.

This project provided an exceptional opportunity to expand our creative boundaries and showcase our artistic capabilities.

The Long Game

Client: BBC Introducing & Slamboree

This project marks the beginning of my journey into the realm of filmmaking. It is a collaborative effort that intricately weaves together compelling B-roll footage and insightful interviews, captured over many years of festival perfomances and tours. Created in 2018 to align with the highly anticipated release of Slamboree’s debut album, this documentary received notable recognition on BBC Introducing. This endeavour provided my first opportunity to craft a compelling narrative from a diverse array of footage, presenting a creative challenge that I still view with pride.
